"drop in where you fit in"

artdrop DTO

"drop in where you fit in."

ArtdropDTO began as a brainstorm between Orlando artists and friends Cherrah Johnson and Geoffrey Gregory, who have been designing & building displays together for a decade for Beaux Studios' boutiques, located around Central Florida. Geoffrey is an engineer and fabricator, known to be able to mix art and engineering to support the fine artists he works with.  During a design meeting in April, while sitting in front of the vintage vending machine, we talked about our friend Katie Willoughby -Root, a local artist who had just put a small vending machine inside local franchise Kelly's Homemade, on Corinne Drive.  Musing about how to connect more buyers to their artist friends, they realized they could use the vintage cigarette vending machine that Geoff had already been refurbishing!

The Concept

We’re curating an exhibition of limited-edition art, small enough to fit into a vintage vending machine. The magic happens when you embrace the creative challenge of working within a confined space. This is an opportunity to experiment, innovate, and connect with collectors in a playful, unexpected way.

We provide the blank canvas—small, consistent mediums—for you to transform:

  • Clear display boxes
  • White Tuck Style Boxes
  • White "cigarette-style" boxes
  • Wood blocks

Each piece you create is part of a curated, limited-edition run, and your art will be released as part of our monthly "drops."

What We Offer Our Artists

  • No cost to participate. Your initial mediums are provided to you at no charge, made possible by a grant from the Awesome Foundation.   You will be given specific instructions when selected.
  • Direct revenue generation. Our high-traffic locations are strategically chosen to maximize sales. A significant percentage of every sale goes directly to you, the artist, ensuring a meaningful financial return on your work. A portion is retained by the project to fund the management expenses, ongoing marketing, and to provide a stipend for our interns.
  • Built-in marketing. Your work will be showcased as part of our ongoing marketing campaigns, with dedicated weekly behind the scenes footage of artists' making their work and creating a reason for viewers to come to these events in person.
  • New collectors. Our unique format encourages a new kind of art collector—one who is looking for an affordable, fun, and spontaneous way to support local artists.   Following the Drop model, we will rely on our creators to support the social media promotion.   This is a specific part of the project and will be a factor that affects which pop artists are selected.

Ready to Join the Drop?

This pop-art experiment is specifically tied to social media, and we're looking for artists who are active and excited to share their process. We want Art Drop DTO to be sought out by individuals who have discovered your work online or are surprised to encounter you
